Greetings! I had to laugh at this sign I walked by yesterday. Sometimes I feel like everything we do revolves around providing the ultimate comfort of our dogs. Weird, but true. Hahah. Our side patio and backyard projects are no exception, a big reason we even got started on our projects was for the dogs. […]

Greetings, friends! I’ve been wanting to get back to talking about our exterior and patio projects for such a long time. Good news, though, we’re finally nearing the “finish line!” That’s not to say I’ve done everything I want to do yet, that would take a few more years! But we’re just about to be […]

With rising temperatures and more sunshine every day, I start to long for summer escapes to one of my all-time favorite destination: the Greek islands. Some of you might know that I lived in Greece as a student. I visited many Greek islands, but one is still on my to-visit list: the island of Milos. But today I will not speak abou the beauties of the island or its amazing Sarakiniko beach. Instead I want to show you yet another reason to visit Milos: a stunning Greek island home photographed by Vangelis Paterakis.
However, I better calm your desires right away: This house is a private home and not available to rent (shoot!!!). But still, it is a marvellous example of a mix between traditional Cycladic architecture and a contemporary interior design. This masterwork was executed by the Greek design practice K-Studio and boasts with natural materials such as stone and wood, neutral tones and organic shapes.
The 19th century house served originally as a storage and utility space. Today it is a summer home with fantastic views of the Aegean from the village of Plaka on Milos. To accommodate modern family life, the design studio restored and adapted both floors whereas the daily life takes place in the lofty, light-filled upper level. The symbiosis of modern and traditional is executed to perfection and due attention to details: modern appliance and state-of-the-art technology coexist with rustic decor and custom handcrafted furniture.
Moreover, the interior styling pays respect to both aspects, a modern life and traditional architecture. Refined pieces, rustic materials and a minimalistic approach let the beautiful architecture dominate the visual stage. The details are simple yet sophisticated in their ability to accentuate the interior’s raw beauty. Crinkled linen sheets, neutral colours, woven baskets and terracotta accents are the key styling ingredients in this Greek island home.
So are you ready for the Greek isles? Packed? I am so ready! Maybe it’s Milos this summer? Who knows!

“Being in a garden is very relaxing and peaceful as plants are restorative to our health and emotions.” I was sharing some images of my lilacs on my Instagram stories the other day and I learned something new. Some parts of the country don’t have lilacs! WHA? How sad would it be deprived of these luscious […]

I talked about the importance of sleep on my blog a few times. We all know that a good bed and mattress are crucial for a good night’s sleep. But also the bedlinen are incredibly important to enhance your sleep. After all it is the bedlinen that you will ‘engage’ with all night. Covering yourself, uncovering, hugging, cuddling – all of these are essential with your bedlinen (and partners, pets etc.). Thus it is not irrelevant what bedding you choose – think of natural materials, dies, think of the touch and feel on your skin. For all the aforementioned reasons I have always been a fan of linen sheets. After trying various linens for the bed, I think to have stumbled upon the perfect fit for my sleep: the new linen sheets by eve.
Most of you might know eve for their great mattresses. In fact my Urban Jungle partner Judith had tested their mattresses and wrote about her experience HERE. However, today I want to focus on their new range of linen sheets. I am a real fan of linen sheets so I was curious to see if I will feel any difference with these bedlinen. And I must say: YES, I did! These linen sheets are just amazing – soft, crisp, warm and cool, whatever you need. That is the magic of good linen.
I also love the fact that they come in two reversible colour sides. Nine colour combinations are available in total. I have chosen the combination khaki and taupe which fits the nature theme of my bedroom and creates a great visual contrast to the deep blue feature wall.
For me sleeping with linen is like sleeping in paradise – hence the blog post’s title. I only have pure cotton or linen sheets by now and I pay due attention when choosing new bedlinen. Now with the new eve linen sheets I am afraid I have found my new source to restock bedlinen. After all a few more colour combination can not hurt, right? Which colour combination would fit your bedroom best? Make your choice!
This blogpost has been brought to you in collaboration with eve who kindly provided free samples. As always all opinions and photos are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands who support this blog!

Happy Monday, friends! Hope y’all had a great weekend. We were on the go quite a bit, running around town, having family time, visiting with friends (I even got to catch up with my friend Kate from Centstational Style!), and doing some more winter clean up and spring planting in our yard. I thought today I […]

Do you love working outside in the spring as much as I do? You’ve probably heard me say this, but I have so much fun creating special little areas within our yard that I can enjoy in spring and summer. It’s more manageable for me to focus on progress in small areas, as well as […]
