Now there are truly many reasons why you should visit Berlin. Yet there is one more good reason to visit the German capital if you love interior styling. Even more so if you love unique items collected from all around the world. The word ‘Nandi’ means happiness in Sanskrit and from the very moment you step into the Nandi concept store you will be flooded with happiness. Especially when you spot the colourful and beautiful items collected by the two owners Vanessa and Leonie. But do not fret: You can shop all the goodies online if you can’t make it to Berlin!

The Nandi concept store is dedicated to handmade home accessories and textiles found around the world. Whether you are looking for a new rug, a cushion, new baskets, throws, or even slippers – Nandi has it all. The items have one thing in common: They have a story to tell and are all handmade by local artisans. Thus, they help to support local communities and bring the best of their skills to Berlin. Frazada throws from Peru, cactus silk rugs from Morocco, mudcloth from West Africa – you name it.

If you love a collected home with an ethnic vibe, this is the shop to visit when in Berlin. At the Nandi concept store Kenian Sisal baskets sit next to colourful kilim cushions from North Africa and Aguayo textiles from the Andes. The choice is yours but it might get tricky as you will want everything. My current favorites are cactus silk rugs and cushions from Morocco. These items are made of a plant fiber called Rayon or Sabra. The material is super smooth, almost like silk (hence the name) but it is way more sturdy. Currently, I have a rug and a cushion (from Nandi) in my home.

But enough of sweet talk – I will let the pictures convince you. For your next Berlin trip write it down in your travel agenda: A visit of the Nandi concept store should be part of your itinerary. Otherwise browse their online shop and get yourself a unique piece for your home!

The majority of you knows that I love earthy hues with subtle colour pops here and there. Pink and purple are not necessarily on my decor agenda. But with the first sunny and mild days after an icy January I felt like I can handle some more colour. When Dutch orchid grower Anthura sent me two of their new Stellenbosch orchids in a deep and velvety purple hue, I had my colour anchor for a little plant styling.

The phalaenopsis orchid is one of the most popular orchids to grow at homes. And I am an avid grower – but in my office at work. I have limited space at home and when I dedicate place to plants I always end up preferring green ones. Anyway, now I have two beautiful purple ladies and I decided to gather some of my other plants with hues of pink and purple. By the way, to learn more about phalaenopsis plant care watch this simple video on the Bloomifique website. You’ll become an avid orchid grower too!

The result is a little plant gang styling with the two Stellenbosch orchids as reigning queens. My new Calathea White Star is a perfect companion with its delicate pink and green leaves. The tiny little Anthurium of flamingo flower surprises with a little purple and pink flower while sitting in its mobile Voltasol Nano pot. Additionally, the little Cryptanthus or Earth Star (from the Bromeliad family) adds more vibrant pinks and greens to the plant composition. A cactus, a succulent, and an airplant fill in the gaps and voila the plant gang is done!

The mix of planters accentuates the vibrant plant gang. Terracotta pots, wooden accessories, beeswax candles, simple white pots – they all come beautifully together. The two Stellenbosch orchids sit in practical and lovely orchid planters from Pottery Direct International.

How do you like this plant gang? Do you have orchids at home? Do you grow phalaenopsis orchids? Let me know!
