The internet is great in many ways. One huge advantage is that it connects likeminded people. I have met so many inspiring people through the internet. Thus I recently started a new blog series entitled ‘People who inspire me’. Last week you had the opportunity to meet the first person who inspires me. Today I am taking you to Israel to meet Dila Bayramov. I first met Dila through Instagram. Later, I discovered her webshop Delirium Decor too. And what can I say? I felt inspired!
Dila is a creative mind that must have been shaped by various cultural backgrounds. Her roots can be traced back to the Caucasus region. Today Dila lives and works in Jerusalem, Israel. Moreover, Dila is a bohemian at heart and her sense of style unites her background like a well balanced spice mixture. This is not only evident in her online shop but in her beautiful and personal home full of character.
What is quite interesting with this series is the fact that I have not met either of the first two inspiring people. Yet I draw a lot of inspiration for my everyday life and home decor from them. I even own a little piece from Dila’s webshop, a Bogolanfini mudcloth pillowcase originally from Mali. It perfectly blends in with my ethnic patterns, tribal shapes, and earthy colours.
When it comes to Dila, I think I am mostly inspired by her mixed background. It is something we have in common. I have always felt that this mixed background has a strong influence on my likings. Especially when it comes to interior decorating. And honestly I am convinced it is the case with Dila too. Her home is an eclectic mix of collected items. Inherited treasures, found gems, thrifted pieces, handmade items – everything put together in a very personal way.
If you like Dila’s style and work, make sure to follow her along on Instagram. And let’s see who is the next person for my blog series ‘People who inspire me’. Maybe you?
