Create your Indoor Garden City

Spring has sprung! Not only am I prepping my balcony, but I am also so happy that my indoor plants are growing again. I admit, I also added a few new plants to the home – blame it on the sunshine! And with new plants comes the need for new plant pots, right? And right in time I received a few beautiful new pieces from Räder, a German brand offering beautiful ceramics, home accessories and gifts. Their latest products have a charming name: Garden City and City Garden (Gartenstadt and Stadtgarten in German). Why this name? Well their new planters are little houses that invite the user to combine them into a little ‘garden city’ – a great idea for a centerpiece on your dining table or the windowsill.

The cute new planters invite the user to play with them. First, I placed them loosely on my dining table as a fun center piece. One planter went to the kitchen as a little herb house. Then I tried a new setting: placing them along other plants on my windowsill. I think in both ways they look just wonderful and really catch the eye. I particularly like the cubic houses as they remind me of the Cycladic architecture from the Greek isles. A bit of a holiday memory for the windowsill!

The new planters from Räder come in various sizes: the cubic houses come in small in large (combine a large one with two small ones for a lovely effect) and the ‘Garden City’ houses with metal framing come in three sizes – small, medium and large. The large one is a great option for herbs in the kitchen – think of a kitchen windowsill. They work great together or separately – the more you combine, the greater the ‘Garden City’ effect is!

How to find vintage furniture online

When you write a blog about interiors and your Instagram is also focused on interior styling, plants and travels, you end up getting quite a lot of questions regarding those topics. Recently I’ve had quite a few questions about furniture purchase. Where can I find nice vintage sideboards? Where did you get your dining table? Any tip where to source such a bar cart? As someone who loves vintage furniture, I feel the obligation to help. And the easiest way for me to help is to talk about my own experiences and vintage hunts.

When it comes to vintage stores, I must say I love to visit them. But usually I face two issues: Either the selection is too limited in the store or I am visiting a store somewhere abroad – no way I can transport furniture back in my hand luggage on a plane, ha! On the other hand, most little vintage shops have no website or online shop. Luckily, that’s where a platform like Pamono comes into play. I think I was an early user of Pamono and one of my first scores was the Danish vintage sideboard in my hallway. Maybe some of you remember, I had that sideboard already in my old apartment in the living room.

I was so happy with my purchase back then, that I kept returning to Pamono whenever I looked for vintage furniture (just for your information: they also offer contemporary pieces). So when I moved to my current apartment, there was yet another moment to check out Pamono. And again: I was successful! I scored my wonderful Ercol dining table, a refurbished table from the 1960s. Additionally, I secured myself a Danish vintage bar cart – you know, for plants, crystals and drinks. Later I added a rattan sidetable to my living room too – yes you guessed right, also found on Pamono!

Every shopping experience was really great! I like the vast offer of beautiful vintage pieces and the transparent prices – including transportation from various countries to your home. You can score real gems for very affordable prices and make your home even more personal. So now you know: Whenever someone asks me about where to get vintage furniture, my answer is quite often the same: Pamono is the go-to platform for me.
