Hygge & A Cozy Winter House

Long before I even heard of the concept of Hygge (pronounced HOO-gah, Hygge is the Danish practice of creating a cozy home, enjoying simple pleasures with a focus on well-being), I was obsessed with those very things. I could hardly believe it when I heard about Hygge, it sounds just like me! I love creating ambience through […]

Urban Jungle Bloggers: Plants + Light

Let there be light in the festive season! Therefore with this month’s Urban Jungle Bloggers topic ‘Plants + Light’ we bring festive light into the darker season and put our houseplants in the spotlight. I am a strong believer of multiple light sources in the home for the right ambiance. For today’s blog post I went an extra mile and added a new light source over my dining table. Please meet the beautiful new Haeng limited editon ‘Urban Jungle Bloggers Pendant’!

For the December edition we have teamed up with the brand new design label Haeng from Denmark. We could not be happier to work with such a young  and enthusiastic brand that brims with passion and creativity – definitely a great match with us Urban Jungle Bloggers! Haeng is way more than just a lighting design brand. The young designer duo Jakob and Rune want to challenge design standards by involving people into the design process. Create, customize, adapt to your personal style – that’s what Haeng is about.

So for our ‘Plants + Light’ topic we had the honor to design a limited edition ‘Urban Jungle Bloggers Pendant’. Only 10 pieces of this beauty are available, so hurry up if you want to be one out of 10 lucky Urban Jungle Bloggers! What we love about the Haeng pendants is their playful beauty paired with exquisite quality. Experienced craftsmanship is evident in every element and material – wooden modules, cork elements, hardened glass and handmade felt from merino wool. They also run a showroom in Copenhagen and customers can design their own pendants right there and then. Additionally, Jakob and Rune design various pendants themselves and sell them via their webshop.

The ‘Urban Jungle Bloggers Pendant’ by Haeng is a sophisticated piece of design. It not only adds a visual impact to a room with its unexpected look, it is also a tactile delight to touch and feel. Walnut and wenge wood elements, lacquered wood pieces, as well as merino felt and a cork spheres form a unique pendant. The colours are natural with subtle hues of green and mint – hence referencing our love for nature and plants as well as our Urban Jungle Bloggers logo. Moreover, the pendant comes with a 6 meters long cable in fabric and an incandescent light bulb with a warm glow. No need to add that this lamp is perfect when matched with plants!

Make Room on Your Christmas List

If you’re sending Santa your last minute Christmas list this week, you might want to ask him for a copy of the book Make Room for What You Love. Yes, I wrote it so I’m probably a little biased, but still, I happen to think it’s a really helpful book to have in preparation for the new year :). […]

How to not ruin walls when hanging art

Today’s blog post is dedicated to a very common and widely known problem. Especially for people in rented places: How to not ruin your walls when hanging art? Believe me, I ask myself this question very often. But now I have the answer as I teamed up with tesa and Juniqe for a little art update projects. And all of it with the promise of not ruining the walls when hanging the art. How? With the new tesa adhesive hooks that can be removed without traces. I was game and curious to see if it works. Follow me along!

As an interior styling fan I am always thinking of new ways to decorate my home. A poplular way to change the look and feel of a room is by art. For quite a long time I had a mini gallery wall above my bed and now it felt like the moment has come to change things. I opted for two beautiful framed art pieces by German artist Iris Lehnhardt (THIS and THIS) via Juniqe. Since my bedroom nook is defined by a droop I went for a larger and a smaller frame. Both art pieces belong to the same series and a bright oak frame additionally ties them together visually.

Now how to avoid adding new nail holes into the wall when hanging art? Simply by using the new tesa adhesif hooks with the removable Powerstrips. No hammering, no drilling. Definitely my kind of choice. Now all I needed was a pocket rule, a pencil and my level app on the iPhone. With larger art pieces it is also helpful to have a second person by your side – I was a bit challenged! Still I managed to get those babies up on the wall. With no destruction by the way! The new adhesive hooks come in different strengths according to the weight of the framed art.

The great advantage of the new hooks is that they allow for height adjustments even after being fixed on the wall. The hooks have five height settings that can be adjusted adequately. And it truly is easy work – even for non DIY people like me! So maybe you want to consider the new tesa hooks next time you are hanging art. And honestly, no matter if you live in a rented space or you own your home: It always hurts when you drill a hole or add another nail to the wall, doesn’t it? So finito with these pain points once and forever!

Hanging my new art was so relaxed and easy this time that I rewarded myself with a little tea break. I not only enjoyed the new art and a good fruit infusion, but I also started thinking of plans for 2017. And I want to put an emphasis on more free and creative time and less obligations and routine. For that I have found the perfect calendar: the Treuleben calendar with soft leather covers and lots of space for the weekends and not so much space for the workdays. Let’s make this our mission in 2017!
