Modern Nomad Living

I was always drawn to the concept of modern nomads. Wait, I have to correct that. In the first instance I am truly drawn to nomadic cultures and their way of life. The Berbers, the Tuareg, the Bedouins and many more – their cultures are an incessant source of inspiration. Today our modern lifestyle of restless traveling has led to the adoption of the term nomad in a contemporary way. We travel, we work, we live in various places. Yet we come back to one home base from time to time. In this sense I consider myself a modern nomad too.

In my case, there is a little clash of traditional nomad culture and modern nomad living. The former refers to my passion for ethnic patterns, colours, and decor items. The latter obviously refers to my frequent traveling. And from every trip I bring something new home. Thus my home sometimes feels like a nomadic tent. And I love it.

So yes I have a few new things at home that I want to introduce to you. From my recent trip to Berlin I brought back a wonderful Moroccan cactus silk rug found at Nandi (I blogged about the shop HERE). And doesn’t it look just perfect when matched with my new CH53 stool by Hans J. Wegner? I particularly love the handwoven paper cord seat! To further strengthen the boho-scandi alliance I have added a blue glass vase from Hay on my coffee table.

But wait, I still have something more to tell you. Another wonderful concept that evokes the childhood, long past memories, home, places visited long ago. The concept of scents. My Berlin trip was actually a trip to the new boutique of Diptyque (see it HERE). They launched the brand new Sablier (Hourglass), a wonderful design item for the home. In one hour the room fragrance drips from the top to the bottom of the hourglass and infuses the home with a wonderful scent – in my case the scent of orange blossoms. But not only the Sablier invites me to dream at home. I also have two scented candles from Diptyque, both with their iconic Baies scent (blackcurrant leaves and Bulgarian roses).

Speaking of modern nomads: I will hit the road again next Tuesday! So it might be a bit quiet here on the blog over the next two weeks, but I am inviting you to join me on Instagram where I will be sharing highlights and daily snippets in the Stories section. Join me if you like! Up to then, embrace your inner nomad and live your life the best possible way! Only good vibes for you all!

Thanks to Flinders Deutschland for providing the stool and vase and to Diptyque for the hourglass and scented candles – as always all opinions and photos are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands who support this blog!
