Love Yourself & Live Your Style

Yes I know today is a sort of special day. I hear it’s Valentine’s Day, ha! And whatever you think of this day and whatever your life situation is – I already highlighted one fact a few times here on the blog. First of all, you need to love yourself! And you have to embrace and appreciate yourself including your style. Whatever your style might be! Sometimes I keep wondering about my own interior style. I think it’s too crazy. It’s too mixed. It’s too much. But hey, looks like that’s me! I appreciate minimimalist homes, monochrome interiors, and glamorous apartments. But I would not want to live in any of those styles. Because it’s not my style. And I choose to live my style. And you should live your style!

This post is meant to encourage you to go for your style. Don’t feel obliged to pursue something because it is a trend. The own home is something like your visual identity. It must represent you and your personality. Not a glossy interior magazine. And it is not aimed at pleasing guests and others – first and foremost it is meant to please you. Your home is your nest. So go and style it the way you like!

My home is obviously a crazy mix of patterns and colours. However, I like to think that I keep my colour palette in a sort of order to avoid a too crazy look. But I mostly add things and layers in my home that speak to me. For example, I love to add pieces I brought back from travels as they remind me of great adventures abroad. Equally I adore to add handmade pieces that I found along the way – either in shops or thrifted on flea markets or online. Plants are an obvious must in my home, too.

Home textiles are another soft spot of mine. Especially if those are handmade and have an ethnic vibe to them. I love rugs, throws, bedlinen, kitchen towels – anything that comes with a story. Be it handwoven by a certain tribe, or woven on old traditional looms, or inspired by ethnic patterns. Additionally, if those textiles are eco-friendly and fair trade, what’s not to love?

A personal home will give you contentment. And it will foster your happiness. And once you are happy and content with yourself and your personal style, then there’s lots to celebrate on a day like Valentine’s Day, right? Love! Enjoy and live your style!
