Handmade ceramics are a must in my home. I absolutely love handmade finishes with little imperfections. To me these represent the real beauty of a handmade ceramics piece. Or even more in general – the real beauty lies in imperfections. I have always been a strong believer of the Japanese wabi-sabi philosophy. This view is centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. Not to mention that every handmade piece is inevitably a one-of-a-kind piece. In celebration of the handmade movement I want to share four ceramics labels with you that caught my eye.
Knotwork LA
This LA based studio is the creative cosmos of Linda Hsiao and Kagan Taylor. They are specialized in ceramics and woodcarvings and their objects for the home are inspired by these natural materials as well as their adventures outdoors. I am absolutely in love with the latest collection of Tiki vases and tumblers. So playful and fun!
Heidi Anderson Ceramics
Heidi Anderson is a ceramicist from Los Angeles and her work is strongly influenced by the culture of the American southwest. She also draws inspiration from various folk cultures from around the world when creating her vases, planters, and sculptures. I love those beautiful totem sculptures!
Moss Keramik
Berlin based Moss Keramik has very whimsical twist to their ceramics. Mia Mueller, the creative mind behind Moss Keramik, creates fun mugs and planters that will entice a smile on every face. Funny little faces, quirky shapes, wabbly legs – every one-of-a-kind piece is a little cutie! By the way, you can chase Moss Keramik pieces on Etsy too.
Atelier Stella
Oldie but goldie: I have been an Atelier Stella fan for quite a long time now. I love the cheerful work of Stella Baggott. Stella is based in Brighton, England, and creates her iconic little face planters and vases that have become a real Instagram hit. Her online flash sales are impatiently awaited and her ceramics sell out in an instant. This little gambling slash shopping experience makes you appreciate your lucky loot even more. Trust me!
